I read this book a while back and it still surprises me that so many people haven’t read it yet.
So I decided to do a quick review.
This book, ladies and gentlemen, is beautiful.
I didn’t just read it, I devoured it.
Jack is five years old, he lives in Room with Ma. Room has a small kitchen, a bathtub, a wardrobe, a bed and a TV set.
He has lived there all his life and really likes Room. He also likes his friends who live in TV.
Even though the story is told from Jack’s perspective, you realize very quickly that something isn’t quite right.
Jack and Ma can’t seem to leave Room and then there’s Old Nick who visits Room at night to bring them food and to sleep with Ma while Jack sleeps in the wardrobe.
As I said before, this book is absolutely stunning. Jack is so naive and innocent and I felt so sorry for him and his Ma.
I loved the story although the pacing does slow down considerably halfway through, it didn’t make me like the story any less.
If you haven’t read this yet and you’re looking for a really good book than you know what to do.
You won’t regret it!
Love
Ellen
