” Would you like to hear a story? I’m guessing that’s why you’re here. Well, once there was a baby who had a fever that wouldn’t break. When the doctors touched him their hands would blister and the ice baths would evaporate. The baby was fine by the way – he gurgled and did what happy babies do. It was everyone else that panicked. “
A man who suffers from a condition where he spontaneously bursts into flame is living out his final days, remembering his lover, and trying desperately to avoid the hate of those who don’t understand him.
Being a fairly recent follower of Sophie Carlon, I couldn’t possibly tell you a lot about her except for the fact that she is amazing. This is her short story, self-published, self-everything’ed. I can’t even begin to tell you how proud I am of this lady.
This being a short story, you start off in the middle of all the action. This man, who has a serious condition where he continuously sets fire to himself, is being hunted, taunted and he’s trying to escape. You soon learn more about him and the life he’s left behind.
For a story this short, it sure packs a punch. I thought it was really clever and very well written and the ending hurt my soul.

For other readers out there, if you would like to buy this book and support her Ladyship, I will leave links to her webshop (and her channel) down below. I think it’s important that we look out for eachother and this is me looking out for someone I’ve come to admire.
I hope you’re all having a great day!
A couple of my projects are finally taking shape so I’m not reading a lot right now. Maybe I’ll be able to tell you about them soon.
