July 2018: Wrap-up

I just remembered that I never did a wrap-up for July… woops… I’m really bad at this.

Let’s catch up! I’ll keep it short 😉 .

I went on holiday to the south of France for the first ten days of July. It was a “relax and do nothing” kind of vacation so not a lot happened. We visited some quiet French towns and I spent a lot of the time reading The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell.

I didn’t like Cloud Atlas very much but I really enjoyed this one. It seems like Mr. Mitchell can’t help himself… He always wants to have A LOT of characters and needs to change the POV at least once. But it was a good book. I’m glad I read it. (Full review here)

I also started the second book in the All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness but I couldn’t get through it so I gave up on it for now…

And just before the BookTubeAThon started, I read The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella which turned out to be exactly what I needed. I’m convinced that me reading this book lead to this year’s BookTubeAThon being a huge success. But more on that in a later post.

The Undomestic Goddess is a cute and romantic novel about a stressed-out lawyer being stressed out when she finds out she’s made a massive mistake and thus in a moment of pure panic does the only thing her stressed-out mind can come up with… run away from her problems. It was funny and sarcastic and I loved it.

So no, I didn’t read a lot in July but that didn’t really matter. I saw some great concerts, I went on holiday and remembered how much I love France (especially the South), I ate aaaaall the delicious food and drank all of the amazing wine.

July was pretty great.
