End of the Year Book Tag (2018)

I’m always on the lookout for new interesting booktubers and -bloggers. Today I stumbled upon Byron from Reading in the Dark. He answered the questions to this TAG and I thought I’d answer them too (and in the meantime link back to his channel, give him a watch! He’s great and doesn’t have a lot of subscribers soooooo…..)

Okay! Here we go!

1. Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I have actually DNF’ed quite a few books this year. Mostly because I was trying to not force myself to read anything I didn’t like. This year I wanted to really focus on reading what felt right and some books just didn’t feel right when I picked them up. I’m not going to try and finish those. I might pick them back up next year.

As for the books I’m currently in the middle of. I’m reading Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Onderdak by Elisabeth van Nimwegen and A Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne. So I’d like to finish those three before December is over.

2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I always gravitate towards historical fiction in the autumn months. These past months, I’ve read a bit of everything but when I started reading A Ladder to the Sky and one of the characters was talking about his past in Germany during World War II, I couldn’t help but think that this was exactly the right book for me to read right now.

3. Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Not really, I’m not too fussed about new releases but I do have Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor sitting on my bookshelf. It’s the sequel to Strange the Dreamer, which I loved last year, and came out in October. So I’m waiting until I find the right time and mood to read that one.

4. What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

The three I’m currently reading 😉

5. Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

Possibly A Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne, I’m only on page 35 but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read so far.

6. Have you already started making reading plans for 2019?

I’m moving house in January so I’ll have to put all my books in boxes. I already know some that are not going to make it onto my new shelves. Of the others that I do decide to take with me, I want to read as many as possible. I basically want to read more than I buy…

Reading goal wise, I think I’m going to set my Goodreads challenge at 40 again and see how fast I can beat it 🙂

How about you? Are you already making bookish plans for 2019?
